The 2024 Schwabsburg Orbel Riesling trocken is a single-vineyard Riesling from the highly regarded Orbel site in Rheinhessen. Made by Weingut Kissinger-Bähr, it combines precise, mineral-driven fruit with the cool elegance and distinctive terroir expression for which this vineyard is known.

Tasting Notes
Pale and bright in appearance, the wine opens with aromas of lime, grapefruit, white peach, apricot and green apple, complemented by white flowers, lemon balm and subtle herbal nuances. With air, delicate notes of flint, citrus zest and salinity emerge. On the palate, it is taut, focused and remarkably precise, with vibrant acidity, clear citrus fruit and a pronounced chalky minerality. The long, cool finish is elegant and distinctly saline. Its freshness, structure and concentration suggest excellent ageing potential over the coming years.

Production
The grapes come from the Schwabsburg Orbel vineyard, where limestone, loess and clay marl soils contribute mineral character, precision and finesse. They are selectively harvested by hand and gently processed before undergoing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Maturation on the fine lees in stainless-steel tanks and traditional wooden casks preserves freshness while adding texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This Riesling is an excellent match for oysters, scallops, delicate fish, shellfish and sushi, while its lively acidity also complements poultry, Asian cuisine, goat’s cheese and refined vegetable dishes. Decanting is not essential, but a short period of aeration in the glass or a brief decant can reveal additional flinty and citrus notes.
