The 2024 Mehringer Blattenberg Riesling trocken is a single-vineyard wine from one of the Mosel’s striking steep-slope sites. Made from carefully selected grapes grown on south-facing Devonian slate, it combines cool-climate freshness with concentrated fruit, pronounced minerality and a finely detailed, dry finish.

Tasting Notes
Pale and bright in appearance, the wine opens with lively aromas of lime, green apple, white peach and grapefruit, followed by hints of white flowers, fresh herbs and wet slate. The nose reflects both Riesling’s freshness and the distinctive mineral character of the Mehringer Blattenberg vineyard. On the palate, it is precise and taut, with vibrant acidity, focused citrus and stone-fruit flavours, and a subtle saline note. A long, mineral-driven finish gives the wine impressive clarity and depth. Although approachable in its youth, the combination of concentration and acidity should allow it to develop greater complexity with several years of bottle age.

Production
The Mehringer Blattenberg consists of south-facing, steep slopes dominated by Devonian slate, a soil type that stores heat and supports even ripening while cool nights preserve freshness. Weingut Lenhardt farms the site with a strong focus on nature and harvests selectively by hand. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented under temperature control before resting on fine lees in stainless-steel tanks, adding texture and aromatic depth while preserving the wine’s pure fruit and mineral expression.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This Riesling is an excellent match for grilled sea bass, oysters, scallops, sushi, ceviche, veal tartare and refined vegetable dishes featuring citrus or fresh herbs. It also works beautifully as a sophisticated aperitif. Decanting is not essential, although a short period of aeration in the glass can reveal additional layers and soften its youthful precision.
