The 2023 Vigna del Convento di Capestrano Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC is a striking single-vineyard white from Valle Reale, one of Abruzzo’s most terroir-focused producers. Sourced from a historic site near an old monastery in Capestrano, it captures the region’s cool mountain influence and mineral-driven character in a precise, elegant style.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass, this Trebbiano opens with a fresh, lifted bouquet of citrus, green apple, white flowers, and subtle herbal tones. Underneath, there’s a distinct mineral edge that gives the wine a clean, cool profile from the first swirl. On the palate it is taut and focused, with lively acidity, a touch of salinity, and a textured, polished finish. The balance of freshness and structure suggests it can develop gracefully over the next few years, though it is already very expressive in youth.

Production
The vineyard lies in the Abruzzo hills near Capestrano, where high-altitude parcels, limestone and gravel soils, and the cool influence of the Apennines help preserve freshness and aromatic clarity. Grapes were selectively hand-harvested, then spontaneously fermented, with aging carried out mainly in stainless steel and partially on the lees to preserve purity, structure, and a strong sense of place.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at 8–10 °C. It pairs beautifully with fish, shellfish, light starters, Mediterranean dishes, and vegetable-based cuisine. Decanting is not necessary; if desired, a short opening in the glass is enough to let the aromatics unfold.
