Description
2023 Petite Nymphe Rosé is a characterful, naturally made rosé from Florian “Flo” Busch in the Terrasses du Larzac area of Languedoc. Presented in a generous 1.5-litre format, it combines the sunny expression of southern France with remarkable freshness, mineral precision and a distinctly savoury personality. Its connection to the Busch family of the Mosel adds an interesting northern European perspective to this Mediterranean wine.
Tasting Notes
The wine pours a vivid salmon to apricot colour. Its expressive nose brings together red berries, sour cherry, rhubarb, green apple and grapefruit zest, complemented by floral nuances, thyme and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is dry, lively and juicy, with refreshing acidity and flavours of blood orange, raspberry, anise and liquorice. A subtle tannic grip and fine saline, mineral character add structure and length. This is an energetic, highly drinkable rosé best enjoyed in its youthful, fresh phase.
Production
The cuvée is made from 60% Carignan Noir and 40% Grenache Noir sourced from several parcels around Montpeyroux in the Terrasses du Larzac. The vineyards feature a varied mix of limestone, quartz, river stones, and blue and yellow marl, contributing freshness, minerality and Mediterranean spice. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently direct-pressed before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for six months in stainless steel and is bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving its natural character and sense of place.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Petite Nymphe Rosé is a versatile partner for grilled fish, seafood, calamari, Mediterranean salads and grilled vegetables. It also works beautifully with fennel, citrus-led dishes, fresh herbs, burrata and light summer barbecue fare. Decanting is not necessary; simply give the bottle a gentle turn before serving if any natural sediment is present.
Producer
Flo Busch is the southern French project of Florian Busch, son of Mosel winemaker Clemens Busch. Working around Montpeyroux with a strong respect for nature, he follows a low-intervention approach that allows the vineyards and vintage to speak clearly. Petite Nymphe Rosé reflects this philosophy through spontaneous fermentation, minimal handling and unfined, unfiltered bottling, offering a distinctive interpretation of Languedoc terroir far removed from conventional, mass-produced rosé.
