La Dame de Montrose is the elegant second wine of Château Montrose, one of the most respected Deuxièmes Crus in the Médoc. Made in Saint-Estèphe, it offers a more approachable, fruit-driven expression of the estate’s grand vin while still carrying the depth and refinement that define this historic property.

Tasting Notes
Deep and polished in the glass, this 2022 shows ripe black fruit at its core, with aromas of cassis, blackberry, spice, cedar, and a subtle floral lift. On the palate it is full-bodied and generous, yet nicely composed, with ripe tannins, juicy fruit, and a long, harmonious finish. The wine has the structure to age gracefully for several years, but its supple style also makes it appealing earlier than the grand vin. In a vintage like 2022, it balances concentration and freshness with impressive charm.

Production
The vineyards sit close to the Gironde, where the river helps moderate temperatures and create a balanced microclimate that is especially valuable in warm years. Grapes are harvested selectively by hand, then vinified parcel by parcel to preserve precision and site expression, before maturation for around 18 months in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new wood.

Food & Serving
This is a classic match for grilled or roasted beef, lamb, game, and other richly flavoured meat dishes, as well as mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the aromatics and texture to fully open up.
