Description

Casa di Terra’s 2022 Bolgheri Superiore is a single-vineyard, 100% Cabernet Franc that offers a distinctive alternative to the region’s more familiar blends. Richly concentrated and shaped by extended ageing in new French oak, it is a powerful, structured wine with clear potential to develop in bottle.

Tasting Notes
Deep and concentrated, with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, dark plum and black cherry. With air, notes of herbs, tobacco, dark spice and earth emerge, complemented by cocoa, coffee, cedar and toast from the oak. The palate is full-bodied and dense, balancing ripe dark fruit with firm tannins and Cabernet Franc’s savoury, gently bitter edge. A long finish carries blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco, dark chocolate and spice.

Production
The vineyard’s proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea helps moderate the sunny Bolgheri growing season, supporting ripe fruit while preserving freshness. Grapes are selectively hand-harvested and transported to the winery in small crates. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with natural yeasts in stainless steel at 26–28°C, followed by around 30 days of skin contact. The wine is then aged for 24 months in 100% new French barriques.

Food & Serving
Serve with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, côte de boeuf, roast lamb, braised beef or game. Pour at around 16°C in a large glass; decant generously to give the wine air, especially while its oak and tannins are still prominent.
