Description

The 2019 Savoy Pinot Noir from Littorai is a benchmark single-vineyard wine from Anderson Valley, one of California’s finest cool-climate Pinot Noir regions. It captures the site’s signature combination of finesse, freshness, and Burgundian elegance, shaped by Ted Lemon’s terroir-first philosophy and decades of experience.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a refined, translucent ruby hue that hints at both delicacy and depth. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with red cherry, wild raspberry, cranberry, and strawberry lifted by rose petals, tea leaf, herbs, subtle spice, and mineral undertones. On the palate, the wine is silky and precise, with cool-toned fruit, lively acidity, and finely woven tannins that give it tension and poise. Notes of forest floor, orange zest, undergrowth, and saline minerality emerge with air, leading to a long, complex finish. It has excellent aging potential and should continue to develop beautifully over many years.

Production
Fruit for this Savoy Vineyard bottling comes from a highly regarded Pinot Noir site in Anderson Valley, where Pacific influence, cool temperatures, and gravelly loam, sandstone, and weathered rock soils help produce wines of remarkable purity and structure. The grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously sorted, then fermented with native yeasts and handled with minimal intervention before aging in French oak with restrained new wood to preserve site expression.

Food & Serving
This is an elegant food wine that pairs beautifully with duck, veal, quail, mushrooms, truffle dishes, grilled salmon, tuna, and mature soft cheeses. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30 minutes if the wine is youthful and you want to open up its aromatic detail.

Producer
Littorai was founded by Ted Lemon, one of California’s most respected advocates for terroir-driven winemaking and a longtime pioneer of cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With deep Burgundy experience and a commitment to biodynamic vineyard work, the estate has become a reference point for precision, transparency, and site expression in the region.

A benchmark of cool-climate California Pinot Noir, this single-vineyard gem is where Burgundy elegance meets the wild edge of Anderson Valley. Perfumed red cherry, raspberry and cranberry meet rose petals, tea leaf, forest floor and a hint of spice. Silky, precise and beautifully fresh, it’s a terroir-driven Pinot with serious finesse, made for those who prefer elegance over sheer power.
