Zenato Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2023

Zenato Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2023 is an elegant, still red wine from the historic Valpolicella Classico area, made from Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone. Its combination of bright cherry fruit, mineral character and a year in oak reflects the Zenato family’s longstanding commitment to the native grapes of the Verona region.

Tasting Notes
Clear ruby red in the glass, it opens with aromas of cherry, morello cherry and wild berries. The palate is dry and mineral, with fresh fruit, a velvety texture and well-defined structure, finishing harmoniously.

Production
The grapes come from hillside vineyards in Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, at 250–300 metres above sea level, with south-eastern and south-western exposures. Stony, clay-rich soils with chalk and limestone contribute to the wine’s mineral character. Grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and crushed, then macerated with their skins for around ten days in stainless steel. After gentle pressing, the wine matures in oak barrels for approximately twelve months. It can be enjoyed now or cellared for the short term.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast meats, grilled sausages, pasta with meat sauce or aged cheeses. A brief airing in the glass should be sufficient; decanting is optional, though opening the bottle shortly before serving can help the aromas unfold.
