Description

Williams Selyem Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay 2024 balances ripe orchard and tropical fruit with a distinctive saline, mineral edge. Made from vines planted at Heintz Vineyard in 1980, it reflects a cool, fog-influenced Sonoma Coast site and a measured approach to oak maturation.

Tasting Notes
The nose opens with Gravenstein and yellow apple, followed by fresh pineapple and tropical notes. On the palate, citrus and apple meet lively acidity and a textured, mineral finish, giving the wine both freshness and depth. Appearance and specific aging potential are not provided.

Production
The Chardonnay comes from Heintz Vineyard, planted by Charlie Heintz in 1980 on a hillside of sandy Goldridge soil over uplifted ancient seabed. Warm days and cool, foggy evenings allow the grapes to ripen gradually. The wine is matured in a mix of barrel ages: 31% new oak, with the remainder divided equally among one-, two- and three-or-more-year-old barrels. Harvesting and vinification details are not specified.

Food & Serving
Try it with roast chicken, seared scallops, or creamy pasta, where the wine’s acidity and mineral character can complement rich textures. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. Decanting is not essential, though a brief airing in the glass can help the aromas open.

Producer
Founded in Sonoma County in 1979 by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem, Williams Selyem is known for its site-focused wines, particularly Pinot Noir, and also produces Chardonnay. Its work with distinct vineyard sites has helped establish the winery as a notable name in California wine.
