Weingut Rings Das Kreuz is the estate’s flagship red cuvée, bringing a Bordeaux-inspired style to the Pfalz. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and St. Laurent grown in the renowned Schwarzes Kreuz vineyard near Freinsheim, it combines international varieties with a distinctly German sense of place. The wine is known for offering impressive depth and ageing potential at a compelling alternative to classically styled Bordeaux.

Tasting Notes
Deep and richly coloured in the glass, Das Kreuz opens with intense aromas of cassis, smoked ham, dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. On the palate, ripe dark fruit is supported by noticeable yet polished tannins, fine mineral nuances and the subtle influence of well-integrated barrique. The 2023 vintage is structured for development and should reward cellaring, while also offering considerable pleasure after decanting in its youth.

Production
The grapes come from the Schwarzes Kreuz, one of the warmest and most highly regarded sites around Freinsheim in the Pfalz. The blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot with the regional variety St. Laurent. The wine is matured in barriques, allowing the oak to integrate with the fruit and structure; specific harvesting and vinification details for the 2023 vintage are not provided.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for grilled or roasted beef, lamb, venison and other richly flavoured game dishes. It also works well with braised meats, hearty stews and mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decant for one to two hours when serving young to allow the dark fruit, mineral character and tannins to open; older bottles should be handled more gently and decanted only if necessary.
