Description

Schlehdorn is Weingut P.J. Kühn’s distinctive Riesling from the heart of the St. Nikolaus VDP Große Lage in the Rheingau. Made from vines more than 85 years old, this small riverside parcel shows how exceptional wines can come from a site at the foot of a slope as well as from hillside vineyards.

Production
The St. Nikolaus vineyard lies directly beside the Rhine, which is around a kilometre wide here. In spring, the river stores warmth and reflects sunlight, encouraging an early start to the growing season; September mist later settles over the vines, helping extend the ripening period into autumn. The Schlehdorn parcel is planted with vines over 85 years old. Harvesting methods and vinification details were not provided.
