Description

Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz Pi No. Rosé Extra Brut is the tenth release of the estate’s Pinot Noir rosé sparkling wine—the “X” refers to the edition, not the vintage. Made from a Blanc de Noirs base wine from the 2019 harvest, it combines a delicate rosé hue with the precision and freshness of Pfalz Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes
Delicate in colour, it opens with subtle, inviting berry aromas, complemented by a fine brioche-like spice. A distinct mineral note brings freshly opened oysters to mind. The available description does not provide further detail on the palate or its ageing potential.

Production
The Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested from Muschelkalk soils and gently pressed as whole bunches. Only the first portion of the press juice, known as the cuvée, is used for the Blanc de Noirs base wine, which is matured in previously used barriques. Before the second fermentation, a small amount of Pinot Noir red wine is added to give the sparkling wine its pale rosé colour, using a technique also practised in Champagne.

Food & Serving
Its delicate berry character and oyster-like mineral impression make it a natural match for freshly shucked oysters and other refined seafood. Serve well chilled; decanting is not recommended for this sparkling wine.
