Tasting Notes
In the glass, this 2019 Spätlese shows a luminous golden hue, hinting at its ripe, fruit-driven style. The nose is generous and layered, opening with apricot, peach nectar, and mango, then unfolding into dried fruit, caramel, vanilla, muscat blossom, and a delicate touch of honey. On the palate, the wine is creamy and rounded, with sweetness taking the lead while vibrant Riesling acidity keeps everything fresh and finely balanced. The result is rich yet never heavy, with excellent depth, clarity, and length. It has the structure to age gracefully for several years, gaining additional complexity and honeyed nuance over time.

Production
The wine comes from the steep slopes of the Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard in the Mosel, where slate-rich soils and the cooling influence of the river help Riesling achieve its signature finesse and aromatic intensity. The vineyard’s dramatic exposure and excellent drainage are ideal for producing wines with precision, elegance, and pronounced minerality. Harvest is carried out selectively by hand, and the grapes are vinified with care to preserve purity, freshness, and the natural balance between sweetness and acidity.

Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a brief opening in the glass can help the wine show its full aromatic range.
