Weingut Markus Molitor’s Haus Klosterberg Pinot Noir 2022 is a graceful Mosel red that captures the elegance of a cool-climate German Pinot at its best. Sourced from Brauneberg and Traben vineyards and shaped by slate soils, it offers purity, finesse, and a subtle spicy edge that reflects both place and producer.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a very light-coloured Pinot Noir with a delicate, translucent ruby hue. The nose is charming and fresh, showing red cherries, strawberries, and fine woodland berries, lifted by a gentle mineral-spicy character from the slate soils. On the palate, it is elegant and finely balanced, with bright fruit, refreshing acidity, and soft, well-integrated tannins that carry the wine to a smooth finish. The 2022 vintage should already be enjoyable for its freshness and finesse, while still having enough structure to develop nicely over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from Brauneberger and Traben vineyards in the Mosel, where the cool climate and slate-rich soils help preserve freshness and add a distinctive spicy note. Harvest takes place late, in November, to ensure full ripeness, and the grapes are destemmed before fermentation with natural yeast over a little more than three weeks. The wine is then aged for 14 months in French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir works beautifully with salads, light pasta dishes, roast poultry, and mushroom-based recipes, as well as charcuterie or mild cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at around 14–16°C, and decanting is generally not necessary unless you want to open it up a little more in its youth.
