Description

Waris Larmandier Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Les Aventures Zero Dosage 2018 is a precise, terroir-driven expression of Chardonnay from the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Crafted from Grand Cru vineyards and bottled with zero dosage, it offers an unadorned, crystalline snapshot of the 2018 vintage. Les Aventures is produced only in top years and in very limited quantities, making it a coveted bottle for devoted Champagne enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Champagne shows a luminous, pale gold color with fine, persistent bubbles that form a delicate, lace-like mousse. The nose is refined and chalky, with lifted aromas of lemon zest, green apple, white flowers, and freshly baked pastry, layered with hints of almond, crushed oyster shell, and subtle brioche from time on the lees. On the palate, Les Aventures Zero Dosage is tense yet beautifully textured, combining razor-sharp acidity with a creamy mid-palate. Flavors of citrus, pear, and stone fruits are interwoven with notes of hazelnut, saline minerality, and a slight herbal lift, leading to a long, dry and mouthwatering finish. The absence of dosage lets the Grand Cru terroir speak clearly, giving the wine a focused, linear profile now, with the structure and acidity to age gracefully for 8–12 years or more under proper cellaring.

Production
Sourced exclusively from Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, Les Aventures reflects the classic chalk-rich soils and cool climate that define the region’s most precise blanc de blancs. Waris-Larmandier works with meticulous, often organic-leaning vineyard practices and low yields to ensure concentration and purity of fruit, with harvesting done by hand to protect the integrity of the grapes. In the cellar, gentle pressing and a careful, plot-by-plot vinification preserve the character of each parcel; the base wines are typically fermented in a mix of stainless steel and oak to balance freshness with complexity. Extended aging on the lees deepens texture and aromatic nuance, and the wine is bottled without dosage (zero added sugar), allowing the natural balance of the vintage and terroir to define the final style.

Food & Serving
This Champagne’s racy structure and saline finish make it a natural partner for pristine seafood: think oysters on the half shell, caviar, scallop crudo, turbot, or simply grilled langoustines. It also pairs beautifully with light dishes centered around citrus, herbs, and fine textures, such as sashimi, tartare, or a delicate goat cheese and herb tart. Serve well-chilled, ideally at 8–10°C (46–50°F), in a white wine or tulip-shaped Champagne glass to highlight its aromatics and minerality. A brief 15–20 minutes in a decanter, or simply opening the bottle a little ahead of serving, can help the wine unfurl its more complex, chalky and nutty nuances.
