Why shop with us?
Vilmart & Cie Brut Grande Réserve is a refined Premier Cru Champagne that shows exactly why this historic house has such a devoted following. Built on a balanced blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it combines precision, richness, and fine texture in a style that feels both elegant and distinctive.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a bright golden hue with a lively stream of fine bubbles. The nose opens with notes of ripe orchard fruit, citrus zest, fresh brioche, and subtle floral tones, with a delicate mineral edge adding lift and complexity.
On the palate, it is supple and well-structured, offering juicy fruit, creamy mousse, and a clean, mineral-driven finish. The balance of freshness and depth makes it immediately appealing, while its concentration and structure suggest it will continue to develop gracefully over the next few years.
Production
Produced in Rilly-la-Montagne, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims, this Champagne reflects Vilmart’s careful attention to terroir and craftsmanship. The vineyards are planted mainly on chalk and clay-limestone soils, and the fruit is typically harvested by hand to preserve quality. Vinification is carried out with a focus on precision and texture, using methods that highlight purity of fruit and the house’s signature depth.
Food & Serving
This Champagne is highly versatile at the table and works beautifully with oysters, grilled prawns, sushi, roast chicken, creamy soft cheeses, or even truffle-scented dishes. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is not recommended; simply allow it a few minutes in the glass to open up.
Producer
Vilmart & Cie is a family-run Champagne house with a long history dating back to the late 19th century, and it remains one of the most respected growers in the region. Based in Rilly-la-Montagne, it has earned acclaim for producing characterful, terroir-driven Champagnes with remarkable consistency. The house is especially admired for its craftsmanship, independence, and reputation among Champagne enthusiasts and professionals alike.
