Villiera Chenin Blanc is a vibrant South African white that shows just how expressive Chenin Blanc can be in the right hands. Produced in Stellenbosch by Villiera Wine, it combines ripe fruit, a touch of oak spice, and a fresh, balanced style that makes it both approachable and characterful.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass, this Chenin Blanc opens with inviting aromas of pineapple, guava, and bright citrus, layered with a gentle hint of oak-derived spice. The nose is fragrant and lively, but still polished, giving the wine a sense of depth without losing its freshness. On the palate, it is rich and textured, with juicy tropical fruit balanced by crisp acidity and a clean, refreshing edge. The short lees aging adds a little roundness and complexity, while the finish is long and satisfying. It is enjoyable now, but has the structure to hold up nicely over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s most respected wine regions, where Chenin Blanc thrives in the warm climate and varied soils. After crushing and destemming, the grapes spent around four hours on skin contact before being gently pressed. Half of the wine was fermented in oak barrels, then removed immediately after fermentation, and the final blend was aged sur lie for two months to build texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that works beautifully with roasted chicken, grilled fish, creamy pasta, sushi, or mildly spiced Asian dishes. Serve chilled at around 8-10°C, and decanting is not necessary.
