Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby color with youthful intensity in the glass. The nose is typically expressive and layered, with dark cherry, plum, wild herbs, floral hints, and the earthy, mineral tones that are so often associated with Aglianico from high-altitude sites. On the palate, the wine should feel structured yet vibrant, combining firm tannins with fresh acidity and a savoury, grounded finish. The combination of stainless-steel maceration followed by maturation in cement and terracotta helps preserve purity and definition, while also adding texture. It is a wine with good cellaring potential and should develop extra complexity over the next several years.

Production
The grapes come from a single parcel in the centre of Villa Raiano’s 9-hectare vineyard in Castelfranci, in the province of Avellino, at around 500 meters above sea level. The amphitheater-shaped vineyard benefits from excellent exposure and the cooler conditions of this elevated site, helping Aglianico ripen slowly while maintaining freshness and aromatic complexity. After destemming, the must macerates for 10 days in stainless steel before the wine is aged in cement tanks and terracotta amphorae, a combination that emphasizes clarity, structure, and a sense of place.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for roasted lamb, grilled beef, braised meats, game, and rich pasta dishes with tomato or ragù. It also works beautifully with aged cheeses and savory dishes featuring mushrooms or Mediterranean herbs. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if possible to let the wine open up and soften its tannins.
