Description
Vigna 800 Garganega IGT Bio "MJSIA" 2023 is a certified organic expression of one of Veneto’s most characterful native grapes. Crafted in small quantities, this wine showcases Garganega’s natural elegance and purity, framed by a thoughtful, terroir-driven approach. It’s a modern yet honest Veneto IGT that focuses on freshness, precision and drinkability.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Garganega typically shows a bright, pale straw to light gold hue, reflecting its youthful vibrancy. The nose is inviting and gently aromatic, with notes that often recall ripe pear, white peach, lemon zest and chamomile, layered with hints of almond, white flowers and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, you can expect a medium body with lively acidity that keeps the wine refreshing and finely balanced. Flavours of citrus and stone fruit are joined by a delicate herbal lift and a faint, signature almond nuance on the finish—very true to the Garganega variety. The 2023 vintage is made to be enjoyed in its youth for maximum freshness and aromatic intensity, though 2–3 years of careful cellaring may enhance its texture and bring out more honeyed, nutty complexity.
Production
Sourced from organically farmed vineyards in Veneto, the grapes for Vigna 800 "MJSIA" are grown on soils that typically blend limestone, clay and volcanic influences—terroirs well-suited to Garganega’s vibrant yet structured profile. The fruit is usually harvested by hand to ensure careful selection and gentle handling in the cellar. Vinification is focused on preserving purity: the grapes are softly pressed, and fermentation generally takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to safeguard delicate aromatics and natural acidity. Aging is most often carried out in stainless steel on fine lees for a period, adding a touch of roundness and texture without masking the grape’s varietal character or the clarity of the terroir.
Food & Serving
This organic Garganega is a versatile partner at the table, especially with Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. It pairs beautifully with seafood risotto, grilled fish, light poultry dishes, vegetable terrines, fresh cheeses and classic Venetian cicchetti such as baccalà mantecato or bruschette with seasonal vegetables. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally around 8–10 °C, to allow the aromatics to open and the texture to show. Decanting is not necessary, but pouring into a medium-sized white wine glass and giving it a few minutes in the glass will bring out its floral and mineral nuances.
