Description

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Brut Champagne 2008 Magnum is a prestige cuvée that captures the bold, structured style of Madame Clicquot in a particularly refined vintage. With an exceptionally high proportion of Pinot Noir, sourced from the house’s most celebrated Grand Cru vineyards, it offers depth, finesse, and remarkable presence in magnum format.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an elegant golden hue with a fine, lively mousse. The nose opens with layers of dried fruit—almonds, figs, and apricots—lifted by fresh pear and wrapped in notes of roasted hazelnuts and praline. The palate is intense yet silky, combining cherry and citrus brightness with impressive structure and a smooth, delicate texture. Thanks to the concentration and balance of the 2008 vintage, this Champagne has excellent ageing potential and should continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
La Grande Dame 2008 is based on 92% Pinot Noir from Veuve Clicquot’s historic Grand Cru sites in Aÿ, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, and Verzenay, with the remaining 8% Chardonnay coming from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. These vineyards are among the most prized in Champagne, prized for their chalky soils and ability to deliver both power and precision. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine is vinified with a focus on preserving purity, structure, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is an excellent match for refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, caviar, truffle risotto, or roast poultry with creamy sauces. It is best served chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is generally not necessary, though allowing the bottle a few minutes in the glass can help reveal its full aromatic complexity, especially in magnum.

Producer
Champagne Veuve Clicquot is one of the most iconic names in the region, founded in 1772 and transformed by the visionary Madame Clicquot, whose innovations helped shape modern Champagne production. The house is renowned for its rich, structured style and strong Grand Cru holdings, and La Grande Dame stands as its most prestigious expression. Since its debut in the late 20th century, the cuvée has become a benchmark for elegance and power in vintage Champagne.
