Description
Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label is one of Champagne’s most recognisable house styles, offering the kind of consistency and polish that has made Veuve Clicquot a benchmark name for generations. Built around Pinot Noir for structure, lifted by Chardonnay, and softened by Pinot Meunier, it delivers a balanced, crowd-pleasing expression of classic non-vintage Champagne.
Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass with a lively, persistent mousse, this Champagne opens with aromas of ripe apple, pear, citrus zest, and brioche, supported by subtle notes of almond and toast. The palate is fresh and rounded, with a pronounced backbone from Pinot Noir, fine tension from Chardonnay, and a gentle, creamy finish from Pinot Meunier. It is made for immediate enjoyment, though it will hold well over the short term and develop a little more richness with a couple of years in bottle.
Production
Sourced from Champagne’s varied vineyards, Veuve Clicquot’s Yellow Label is shaped by a blend that typically includes 55% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 15% Pinot Meunier, with 25–40% reserve wines used to maintain the house style. The grapes are selected to balance structure, freshness, and roundness, and the wine is finished with a dosage of 9 g/L. This careful blending approach is central to the domaine’s terroir-driven, consistent style.
Food & Serving
Ideal with oysters, shellfish, sushi, fried starters, roast chicken, or soft cheeses, Veuve Clicquot Brut is versatile enough to work from aperitif through to the table. Serve chilled at 8–10°C for best expression, and decanting is not recommended for Champagne.
