Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with youthful purple reflections. The nose opens with ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum, layered with violet, dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is structured yet supple, with bright acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a core of dark fruit complemented by cocoa, leather, and savory Tuscan earthiness. The wine’s blend gives it both freshness and breadth, making it approachable in its youth while promising further development over the next several years. With age, the fruit will soften and the tertiary notes of dried flowers, spice, and tobacco will become more pronounced.

Production
Produced in the heart of Chianti Classico in Tuscany, the San Lazzaro vineyards benefit from the region’s rolling hills, well-drained soils, and a climate that balances warm days with cooler nights. This terroir is especially well suited to Sangiovese, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot add body and complexity. Grapes are typically harvested by hand to preserve fruit quality, followed by careful vinification to highlight purity, structure, and the elegance associated with Gran Selezione wines.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, bistecca alla fiorentina, wild boar ragù, and aged Pecorino. It also works well with mushroom-based dishes and hearty Mediterranean cuisine. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if drinking young to allow the wine to open and soften.
