Ugo Lequio Barbaresco Gallina is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barbaresco’s most admired crus. Sourced from the historic Gallina hillside, once owned by the Riccardi Candiani counts, it combines power, structure and elegance in a style that speaks clearly of its Piedmontese heritage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby-red color with garnet reflections, a classic sign of evolving Nebbiolo. The bouquet is enveloping and complex, with spicy layers of licorice and pepper lifted by leather, rose and a subtle earthy depth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and firm, with the taut structure expected from Barbaresco, yet also notable for its harmony and balance. The wine’s tannins and acidity give it excellent aging potential, allowing the more savory and floral nuances to deepen beautifully over time.

Production
Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks over 15-18 days to preserve precision and aromatic purity. It is then aged for 20 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak casks, followed by 6 months in bottle, a traditional approach that helps shape the wine’s structure while respecting the character of the Gallina terroir.

Food & Serving
This Barbaresco pairs beautifully with rich Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta and roast lamb. Serve at 16-18°C and consider decanting for about 1-2 hours if drinking young, to allow its aromatics and structure to open fully.
