Description

Troplong Mondot 2011 is a finely structured Saint-Émilion from one of Bordeaux’s most respected estates, offering the depth and precision expected of a Premier Grand Cru Classé. Known for its elevated plateau terroir and characterful right-bank style, it combines richness, freshness and impressive refinement in a single wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep garnet hue with early signs of maturity at the rim. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of ripe dark berries, plum, graphite, cedar, tobacco and subtle floral and spice notes. On the palate, it is supple yet concentrated, with a polished tannic frame, vibrant acidity and a long, savory finish. The 2011 vintage can be approachable now, but it should continue to evolve gracefully for several more years, gaining additional complexity and silkiness with cellaring.

Production
Troplong Mondot is located on the high limestone and clay plateau of Saint-Émilion, a site that lends both power and freshness to the wine. The estate’s vineyards benefit from excellent drainage and a terroir that encourages ripe fruit character balanced by minerality and structure. Harvesting and vinification are carried out with great attention to detail to preserve precision, purity and the estate’s signature depth.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds and mushroom-based dishes. It is best served at around 16–18°C, and decanting for one to two hours is recommended if drinking now to allow the wine to open fully.

Producer
Troplong Mondot is a historic Saint-Émilion estate with a long-standing reputation for producing wines of power, elegance and longevity. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé, it is one of the appellation’s benchmark properties and has earned recognition for the consistency and quality of its wines across vintages.
