Cantina Tramin’s Maglen Pinot Nero Riserva 2023 is an elegant expression of Pinot Noir from Alto Adige, combining bright red-fruit character with the structure and depth of a Riserva. Sourced from the Glen and Mazzon microzones, it reflects a long tradition of quality winemaking at the historic cooperative, founded in 1898.

Tasting Notes
Ruby red with subtle garnet hues, the wine opens with aromas of cherry and morello cherry, layered with wild berries and delicate spice. The palate is harmonious and finely structured, with well-integrated tannins, poised fruit and a lingering finish. Its measured development suggests that the wine can gain further finesse with bottle age. Enjoy it now for its lively fruit, or allow it to mature for added complexity.

Production
The Pinot Noir grapes come from the Glen and Mazzon sites near Termeno, at elevations of 400–600 metres. Sandy-clay soils, favourable exposure and warm days balanced by cool mountain nights encourage slow, even ripening and aromatic complexity. The grapes are hand-harvested, then temperature-controlled fermentation and submerged-cap maceration help extract colour and structure. The wine matures for 11 months in small oak casks, followed by larger casks and at least six months of bottle rest.

Food & Serving
A natural match for game and roasted meats, it also pairs well with dishes featuring mushrooms or herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C. A short decant of 30–45 minutes can help the aromas open, particularly if the wine is enjoyed young.
