Cantina Terlano’s Vorberg Riserva is a single-varietal Pinot Blanc from the steep, high-altitude slopes of Alto Adige, combining a rich, creamy texture with the region’s distinctive porphyry-driven minerality. A flagship expression of the winery’s long-standing expertise with Pinot Blanc, it is made for both the table and thoughtful cellaring.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with bright green reflections, it opens with ripe apple and pear, followed by delicate notes of chamomile, yeast and spice. The palate is full and creamy, balanced by lively acidity and pronounced mineral character, with a subtle saline edge and a long, persistent finish.
Its structure and concentration suggest good potential to develop in bottle, gaining further complexity with time. Enjoy it young for its freshness or cellar it for several years to follow its evolution.
Production
The grapes come from south- and southwest-facing vineyards in the Terlano area, between 500 and 900 metres above sea level. Sandy, stony porphyry soils provide excellent drainage and contribute to the wine’s mineral character. Grapes are harvested by hand, whole bunches are gently pressed, and the must is clarified by settling before a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation in large oak casks. Malolactic fermentation and twelve months on fine lees lend depth and a rounded texture while preserving a dry, elegant profile.
Food & Serving
Serve at around 10–12°C, allowing it a little time in the glass to open. It pairs well with roast poultry, richer fish dishes, shellfish, creamy risotto and mature Alpine cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but a short spell in a carafe can help the wine show its aromatic detail, particularly when young.
Producer
Founded in 1893, Cantina Terlano is a cooperative winery in Alto Adige with a strong reputation for expressive, age-worthy white wines. Its hillside vineyards and porphyry-rich soils are central to the character of its wines, and Pinot Blanc is among the varieties for which the estate is especially well regarded. Vorberg is a notable example of the region’s capacity to produce whites with both depth and longevity.
