Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2022 is one of Italy’s most iconic fine wines, crafted in Bolgheri from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Revered for combining Mediterranean richness with Bordeaux-inspired elegance, Sassicaia has helped establish Bolgheri as one of the world’s great regions for Cabernet and was the first Italian wine to receive its own appellation, Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, the 2022 vintage opens with expressive aromas of ripe blackcurrant, dark berries and cherries, layered with refined notes of cedar, graphite, tobacco and delicate spice. The palate is poised and silky, balancing concentrated fruit with polished tannins and a precise, graceful structure. A long, clean finish leaves an impression of remarkable finesse and composure. Already compelling for its balance and clarity, Sassicaia 2022 has the structure and concentration to develop beautifully with extended cellaring.

Production
Produced at Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, on Tuscany’s Tyrrhenian coast, the wine benefits from a maritime climate and the region’s distinctive mineral-rich, gravelly soils. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc thrive in the warm, sunny conditions, while cooling coastal influences help preserve freshness and aromatic precision. The grapes are carefully selected before traditional vinification and maturation designed to preserve the wine’s structure, elegance and remarkable ageing potential.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decant for around one to two hours when enjoying the wine young, allowing its layered aromas and refined tannins to unfold; older bottles may benefit from gentler handling and a shorter decant. Its depth and balance make it an excellent partner for roast lamb, beef fillet, game, braised meats, truffle dishes and mature hard cheeses.
