Tenuta Perano Chianti Classico Riserva 2022 is a polished Tuscan red that brings together Sangiovese’s freshness and character with a touch of Merlot’s rounded fruit. Made from estate-grown grapes in Gaiole in Chianti and matured for 24 months in Slavonian oak, it offers a distinctive expression of the Chianti Classico Riserva tradition.

Tasting Notes
Brilliant ruby red with violet reflections, it opens with floral notes of violet and wild rose, followed by blackcurrant and blueberry. On the palate, fresh balsamic nuances mingle with nutmeg, black pepper and cocoa. Dense yet silky tannins give the wine a composed, enveloping feel, while tobacco and leather notes linger in a harmonious finish. Its structure and freshness make it a strong candidate for further bottle development. Enjoy it now after a little time to breathe, or cellar it to allow its fruit, oak and savoury notes to knit together further.

Production
The grapes come from Tenuta Perano’s natural amphitheatre in Gaiole in Chianti, where steep slopes sit around 500 metres above sea level and face south-west. Stony, limestone-rich soils and the site’s elevation help preserve freshness while allowing the grapes to ripen fully. Hand-harvested bunches are selected with care, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with regular extraction work and a long maceration. The wine is aged for 24 months in Slavonian oak before a further period of rest.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C, allowing the wine to open in the glass; decant for about 30–60 minutes if enjoying it young. Its savoury depth and supple tannins suit roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, game, and aged Tuscan cheeses.

Tenuta Perano is a Frescobaldi estate in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. The Frescobaldi family has a long history of winemaking in Tuscany, and the estate’s high-altitude, limestone-rich vineyards give its wines a clear sense of place. This Riserva has received 93 points from Wine Spectator.
