The nose is elegant and layered, with aromas of ripe red cherry, wild berries, and plum framed by violets, dried rose petals, and a subtle earthy note. Gentle spice from oak aging – hints of vanilla, clove, sweet tobacco, and cedar – integrates seamlessly with the fruit. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet poised, with concentrated red and black cherry, red currant, and a touch of blood orange. Production
The Rialzi vineyard at Tenuta Perano sits on steep, sun-exposed slopes in Gaiole in Chianti, at relatively high elevation for the region, ensuring warm days, cool nights, and a long, even ripening season. The soils are predominantly rocky and poor – rich in galestro and alberese – which naturally limit yields and help produce grapes with thick skins, intense aromas, and pronounced minerality. Harvest is typically carried out by hand, selection taking place first in the vineyard and again in the cellar to ensure only perfectly ripe clusters are used for this Gran Selezione. After gentle destemming and fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks, the wine undergoes a prolonged maceration on the skins to extract color, tannin, and aromatic depth. Aging takes place in carefully chosen oak (often a mix of large casks and barriques) for an extended period, followed by bottle aging, allowing Rialzi 2020 to develop harmony and complexity before release.

This Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a superb match for classic Tuscan cuisine and richly flavored dishes.
