Why shop with us?
Tenuta di Carleone Uno 2021 is a pure, focused expression of Sangiovese from the rolling hills of Tuscany, crafted to showcase elegance over power. Sourced from a selection of the estate’s best vineyards, it captures the character of the Carleone terroir in a wine that is both approachable now and built for graceful aging. This cuvée represents the estate’s signature style: refined, terroir-driven, and uncompromising in quality.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Uno 2021 shows a vibrant, medium ruby color with a luminous clarity typical of finely made Sangiovese. The nose opens with red cherries, wild raspberries, and blood orange, layered with notes of dried herbs, rose petals, and a delicate hint of spice and cedar.
On the palate, the wine is elegant and precise rather than heavy, with juicy red fruit at the core, supported by fine, chalky tannins and a lively, mouthwatering acidity. Flavors of sour cherry, pomegranate, and cranberry intertwine with savory notes of tobacco leaf, dried thyme, and a subtle earthy minerality. The finish is long, clean, and refined, suggesting excellent aging potential: well-stored bottles should evolve beautifully over 8–12 years, gaining complexity in the form of leather, forest floor, and truffle tones while retaining their freshness.
Production
Tenuta di Carleone’s vineyards lie in the Chianti heartland of Tuscany, on hillsides with a mix of galestro (shaly clay), limestone, and rocky soils that naturally limit yields and concentrate flavor. The Sangiovese grapes for Uno 2021 are carefully selected from various estate parcels to create a balanced, complete expression of the property. Harvest is typically done by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe, healthy bunches are brought to the cellar. Vinification follows a minimalist, artisanal philosophy: gentle handling of the fruit, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, and a restrained extraction to preserve purity and finesse. Maturation in neutral vessels and/or large oak allows the wine to develop texture and complexity without overt oak influence, keeping the focus squarely on fruit and terroir.
Food & Serving
This is a highly versatile Tuscan red that shines alongside classic Italian dishes. Pair it with bistecca alla fiorentina, grilled lamb, roast pork with herbs, tomato-based pastas, wild mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino and other hard cheeses. Uno 2021 is best served at 16–18°C (60–64°F). A brief decant of 30–60 minutes helps the aromatics open and smooths the tannins, but the wine can also be enjoyed straight from the bottle if given a little time in the glass.
Producer
Tenuta di Carleone is a relatively young but already highly regarded Tuscan estate, established with the ambition to craft some of the region’s most elegant and terroir-transparent Sangiovese. Located in the hills of Tuscany, the winery focuses on organic, low-intervention viticulture and meticulous vineyard work to let the land speak through the wines. Under the guidance of experienced, quality-driven winemaking, Tenuta di Carleone has quickly earned a reputation for purity, finesse, and consistency, with cuvées like Uno serving as a benchmark for modern, refined Tuscan Sangiovese on the international stage.
