Description

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2008 Magnum is one of the house’s most celebrated Blanc de Blancs cuvées, crafted exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from the finest Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs. The 2008 vintage is especially prized for its cool-season precision, giving the wine outstanding freshness, purity, and impressive aging potential in magnum format.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden hue with a very fine, persistent mousse. The nose is elegant and layered, opening with citrus, white flowers, and subtle hints of toasted brioche and almond that become more pronounced with time. On the palate, it is refined and structured, with vibrant acidity supporting flavors of green apple, lemon, and chalky mineral notes. The finish is long, fresh, and precise, with a sense of harmony that suggests excellent development ahead; this is a Champagne that should continue to evolve beautifully for many years.

Production
Comtes de Champagne 2008 is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes grown in selected Grand Cru sites in the Côte des Blancs, an area renowned for its chalky soils and ideal conditions for producing expressive, mineral-driven Blanc de Blancs Champagne. The cool 2008 growing season helped preserve acidity and aromatic finesse, while careful vinification and extended cellar aging contributed to the wine’s depth, structure, and long-term potential.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is a superb match for oysters, scallops, caviar, lobster, sushi, and other delicate seafood dishes, as well as roast chicken or fine poultry with creamy sauces. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and consider decanting only if desired for a brief moment in the glass to allow its aromas to open naturally.

Producer
Champagne Taittinger is one of the great family houses of Champagne, known for its elegant, Chardonnay-led style and long-standing commitment to finesse and balance. The Comtes de Champagne cuvée has become an iconic expression of the house, and Taittinger’s reputation for producing refined, ageworthy Champagne has earned it a respected place among collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.
