Description

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2005 Magnum is a superb Blanc de Blancs Champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay, presented in an impressive 1.5-liter format that adds both prestige and longevity. Sourced from the finest Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs, it combines elegance, finesse, and remarkable aging potential, making it a standout choice for collectors, celebrations, and special gifting.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a refined golden hue with a lively, persistent mousse. The nose is expressive and layered, with citrus, white flowers, and delicate notes of brioche, almond, and pastry emerging with air and time. On the palate, it is precise and beautifully balanced, driven by fresh acidity and a creamy, textured mid-palate. The finish is long, elegant, and subtly complex, with the magnum format helping the wine evolve even more slowly and gracefully. While already highly appealing, it has excellent aging potential and should continue to gain depth over the coming years.

Production
Comtes de Champagne is crafted from Chardonnay grown in some of the best Grand Cru sites in the Côte des Blancs, where chalk-rich soils bring tension, minerality, and finesse to the wine. The 2005 vintage benefited from a balanced growing season that delivered both freshness and ripeness. Harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on purity and precision, the wine is made to highlight the character of the fruit and the elegance of the terroir.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is a natural partner for oysters, scallops, lobster, caviar, sushi, or refined poultry dishes, and it also shines with truffle-based dishes or aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is generally not necessary, but allowing it a little time in the glass can reveal additional layers of complexity.

Producer
Champagne Taittinger is one of the great names of Champagne, known for its elegant style and strong focus on Chardonnay-driven wines. With deep roots in the region and a reputation built on finesse rather than power, the house has become especially respected for its Blanc de Blancs cuvées. Comtes de Champagne stands as one of its most iconic achievements, widely admired for purity, balance, and age-worthiness.
