Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2022 vintage shows a deep, dark ruby colour that signals concentration and richness. The nose is generous and immediately appealing, with layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe cherry lifted by cedar, graphite, dark chocolate, and a subtle floral hint of violet. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, yet finely balanced and precise. Polished tannins frame the wine’s intense dark fruit core, while the finish is long, juicy, and elegant. Thanks to its structure and depth, it can be enjoyed now for its vibrant fruit, but it also has the backbone to develop beautifully over the next 10–15 years.

Production
Lyndenhurst 2022 is built around Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc for added complexity and finesse. The wine draws on fruit from Spottswoode’s iconic estate in St. Helena as well as carefully selected vineyards throughout Napa Valley, bringing together premium terroir with the estate’s exacting standards. The warm 2022 growing season produced ripe, concentrated fruit, which was then matured in French oak to build depth, texture, and refinement.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or a classic pepper-crusted steak. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom dishes, aged hard cheeses, and rich slow-cooked game. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the wine’s aromatics and structure to fully open up.
