Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Spottswoode’s Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted to capture much of the Estate wine’s character and pedigree, while offering exceptional value. Sourced from Spottswoode’s own vineyards and carefully selected Napa Valley parcels, it brings together Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc for added depth and refinement.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2021 Lyndenhurst shows a deep ruby-red color. The nose is inviting and layered, with aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, cocoa, and subtle floral nuances. The palate is full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins, ripe dark fruit, and an elegant, harmonious finish. While approachable in its youth, it has the structure and finesse to develop gracefully over time, gaining further complexity with cellar aging.

Production
Lyndenhurst 2021 is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc for complexity and texture. The fruit comes from both Spottswoode’s estate vineyards and selected Napa Valley sites, and after fermentation the wine is matured in a combination of French oak barrels to enhance its layered, polished style.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled or roasted beef, lamb, venison, and rich mushroom dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open up.
