Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2007 Cornelia Constanza shows a deep, saturated ruby color with a slight garnet rim beginning to form, a sign of its graceful evolution in bottle. The nose is lavish and enveloping, with layers of ripe blackcurrants and macerated raspberries lifted by hints of licorice, roasted Provençal herbs (garrigue), and subtle notes of cocoa and dark chocolate. On the palate, this is full-bodied and opulent, yet remarkably composed. The texture is plush and velvety, with dense, sweetly ripe red and black fruit at the core, framed by fine, ripe tannins. Savory notes of dried herbs, spice, and a touch of earth add complexity and keep the wine from feeling overdone. The finish is long, warming and pure, showing excellent balance between fruit, structure and freshness. Sourced from prime Grenache parcels in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Solitude Cornelia Constanza reflects the classic Rhône terroir of sun-drenched vineyards, stony galets roulés (rounded river stones), and well-drained soils that naturally limit yields and concentrate flavor. The fruit is typically hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve both richness and balance, with meticulous sorting to ensure only the best berries make it into the cuvée. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats to gently extract color, flavor, and fine tannins, followed by aging in a combination of traditional vessels (often large foudres and/or older barrels) designed to polish the wine’s texture without masking the pure Grenache character. The decision to bottle in Imperial (6 L) further enhances slow, harmonious maturation and complexity over time.

Food & Serving
This decadent yet balanced Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a superb match for rich, flavorful dishes such as slow-braised lamb shank, roast lamb with rosemary, duck confit, game birds, or beef short ribs. It also pairs beautifully with herb-crusted pork, dishes featuring Provençal herbs, or aged hard cheeses like Comté or mature Gouda. Serve at around 16–18°C (60–64°F) to highlight both its fruit and spice profile. Given the wine’s age and concentration, decanting for 1–2 hours before serving is recommended, especially from an Imperial, to allow the aromatics to fully open and the palate to unfold.
