Description

Silvio Nardi Rosso di Montalcino 2024 is an expressive Sangiovese Grosso from the hills of Montalcino, combining ripe red-fruit character with supple tannins and a polished, lingering finish. Often regarded as Brunello’s more approachable sibling, it offers a vivid taste of the region’s terroir, shaped by the Nardi family’s long-standing commitment to the estate.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red in the glass, it opens with aromas of ripe red fruit, blackberry, plum and morello cherry, lifted by rose petals, wild herbs and a hint of damp earth. The palate is warm, rounded and full-bodied, with well-defined structure and velvety tannins that frame the fruit without overwhelming it.

Production
The grapes come from several vineyards in the municipality of Montalcino, around 300 metres above sea level, where northwest-facing Guyot-trained vines grow in marl-rich, sandy marl soils. Vineyard work follows organic and sustainable principles, and the grapes are hand-harvested in the first half of October. After destemming and a short cold pre-maceration, fermentation takes place with the skins for at least 15 days at controlled temperature. The wine matures for 12 months in new and used casks of different sizes, followed by further ageing in bottle.

Food & Serving
Serve at 14–16°C and allow around an hour for the wine to breathe before serving. Its ripe fruit and balanced tannins pair well with roast meats, grilled sausages, mushroom dishes and aged Tuscan cheeses.

Producer
Tenute Silvio Nardi traces its history to 1950, when Silvio Nardi acquired the Casale del Bosco estate in Montalcino. The family winery has become an established name in the region, producing wines that reflect the character of its vineyards and the wider Montalcino appellation. The supplied product information notes a 93-point rating from James Suckling.
