Description
Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2008 is a classic expression of one of Italy’s most celebrated appellations, offering the depth, structure, and elegance that have made Brunello a benchmark for age-worthy Sangiovese. Produced by Tenute Silvio Nardi in the heart of Montalcino, it reflects both tradition and precision, with fruit sourced from vineyards planted at around 350 meters above sea level.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with garnet reflections, hinting at its maturity and complexity. The bouquet is refined and intense, with aromatic layers of anise, ripe berries, and a subtle touch of vanilla, lifted by the wine’s characteristic ethereal fragrance.
On the palate, it is warm, structured, and harmonious, with present yet supple tannins that support the wine’s rich core. The finish is persistent and well-balanced, showing the kind of depth and finesse that make Brunello so compelling over time. While already expressive, it still has the backbone to evolve gracefully with further cellaring.
Production
The Sangiovese grapes come from vineyards in Montalcino, where altitude and the Tuscan climate help preserve freshness and aromatic precision while allowing full phenolic ripening. After careful harvest, the wine is aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels, followed by 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, and then rested in bottle for at least 6 months before release.
Food & Serving
This Brunello pairs beautifully with rich Tuscan dishes such as bistecca alla fiorentina, braised beef, wild boar ragù, roast lamb, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least one hour to allow the aromas and texture to खुल fully unfold.
