Shafer Vineyards One Point Five is a benchmark Napa Cabernet that captures the power and polish of Stags Leap District in a single bottle. Originally named to honor the father-and-son partnership behind the estate, “one point five” has become a fitting signature for a wine that bridges generations of craftsmanship with unmistakable California intensity.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep purple that nearly turns black at the rim, hinting at its concentration and depth. The bouquet is layered and inviting, with blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark plum lifted by notes of liquorice, eucalyptus, tar, and a subtle smoky ashy edge. The palate is rich and structured, delivering the dark fruit promised on the nose along with truffle, cigar box, liquorice, and well-integrated oak. Firm, mature tannins support the wine’s intensity without overwhelming its elegance, leading to a long, expansive finish. While already impressive now, it has the structure and balance to evolve beautifully for many years.

Production
This wine comes from the Stags Leap District in Napa Valley, a terroir celebrated for producing Cabernet Sauvignon with both depth and finesse. The blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 3% Malbec, harvested to preserve ripeness and balance, then matured for 20 months in 100% new French oak to build complexity, texture, and aging potential.

Food & Serving
Best served with richly flavoured dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, roast lamb, or game with dark sauces. For the best expression, serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, as this will help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
