Description

Seguin-Manuel’s Savigny-Les-Beaune Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2022 is a refined Burgundy built on old-vine Pinot Noir and a quietly confident sense of place. With its elegant profile, finely judged tannins and lively freshness, it captures the classic charm of Savigny-les-Beaune and the producer’s restrained, terroir-led style.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a graceful red Burgundy with a translucent ruby hue. The nose opens with red berries, floral notes and a subtle forest-floor character that evokes autumn woodland, while the palate is finely textured, lifted by bright acidity and wrapped in soft, well-integrated tannins. It is a wine of balance rather than weight, showing purity, finesse and immediate drinkability. While already approachable, its structure and old-vine concentration should allow it to evolve nicely over the next few years, gaining more savoury depth and complexity.

Production
The wine comes from three parcels in Savigny-les-Beaune, where clay and limestone soils help preserve both elegance and structure. The vines are more than 60 years old, and the grapes are harvested by hand to ensure only the healthiest fruit is selected. Vinification and élevage are kept deliberately understated: the wine is matured for 14 months in oak barrels, with only 15% new oak, allowing the Pinot Noir character and the nuances of the terroir to remain at the forefront. This gentle use of wood is central to Seguin-Manuel’s house style.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with roast poultry, duck, veal, mushroom dishes and lighter game, as well as salmon or tuna prepared with earthy accompaniments. Serve it slightly chilled, around 15-17°C, and consider a short decant if opening it young to help the aromas fully unfurl.

Producer
Seguin-Manuel has been based in Savigny-les-Beaune for nearly 200 years, giving the domaine a deep and unusually intimate connection to the commune. Today, winemaker Tibaut Marion continues that legacy with a philosophy focused on purity, precision and respect for the vineyard, crafting wines that reflect the character of the Côte de Beaune with clarity and restraint.
