Tasting Notes
In the glass, Broken Stones shows deep, intense colour and immediately signals its concentration. The nose is vivid and complex, with black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, licorice, crushed stone, Mediterranean herbs, and subtle exotic spice. The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, yet remarkably fresh and focused. Silky tannins, a strong mineral backbone, and dense dark fruit carry into a long, layered finish of spice, stony nuances, and lingering energy. This is a wine with serious aging potential and the structure to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
Broken Stones comes from Paso Robles’ limestone-rich, rock-strewn terroir, which naturally limits yields and encourages small, highly concentrated berries. Saxum works with minimal intervention in the cellar, using a hands-off approach that allows the vineyard character to remain front and center, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration to preserve depth and authenticity.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, slow-roasted beef, short ribs, venison, or hearty dishes with herbs and spice. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and Mediterranean-inspired fare. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours to allow the wine to fully open up.
