Saronsberg Tulbagh Full Circle 2021

Saronsberg Tulbagh Full Circle 2021 is a distinctive South African red that brings together Syrah/Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Roussanne and Viognier in a style that is both layered and expressive. It stands out for its Rhône-inspired blend, refined structure, and the characterful mountain terroir of Tulbagh, making it a wine with real personality and depth.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby to garnet colour with a vibrant, polished edge. The nose is generous and complex, offering dark berries, plum, black pepper, dried herbs and floral notes, with subtle hints of spice, earth and a touch of savoury complexity from the Rhône varieties. The palate is medium to full-bodied, supple yet structured, with ripe black fruit, red cherry, peppery spice and a savoury, mineral edge. The blend brings balance and aromatic lift, while the tannins are fine and well integrated. This wine should drink beautifully now, but it also has the structure to develop further over the next 5–8 years.

Produced by Saronsberg Cellar in Tulbagh, the wine reflects the region’s warm days, cool evenings and varied soils, which help preserve freshness while encouraging full flavour development. The grapes are typically harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified with careful extraction and blending to maintain elegance, complexity and varietal definition, with the white Rhône varieties adding aromatic lift and texture to the final wine.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, beef fillet, venison, slow-roasted duck or dishes with rosemary, black olives and Mediterranean herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended if you want to open up the aromas and soften the wine’s structure.
