Domaine Vincent Pinard’s Chêne Marchand is a refined single-vineyard Sancerre from one of the appellation’s most respected limestone terroirs. Made from Sauvignon Blanc, the 2023 vintage combines bright Loire freshness with impressive depth, texture and a distinctly mineral character—showing why Chêne Marchand is regarded as one of Sancerre’s celebrated sites.
Tasting Notes
Bright and pale gold in appearance, this Sancerre opens with expressive aromas of lemon zest, white peach, pear and delicate white flowers, followed by subtle notes of chalk, fresh herbs and wet stone. The palate is precise and beautifully balanced, with crisp citrus acidity, ripe orchard fruit and a gently creamy texture. A saline, flinty finish brings length and elegance, while the wine’s structure allows it to develop further complexity over the next several years when properly stored.
Production
Chêne Marchand is a renowned vineyard site in the Sancerre area, characterised by limestone-rich soils that contribute freshness, tension and the wine’s distinctive mineral expression. The grapes are carefully harvested and vinified with an emphasis on preserving purity and terroir, followed by maturation that adds texture and complexity without overshadowing the Sauvignon Blanc’s natural precision. Exact production details may vary by vintage.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. This elegant Sancerre is an excellent match for oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, goat’s cheese and dishes featuring asparagus or fresh herbs. It also pairs beautifully with delicate poultry and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Decanting is not essential when the wine is young, although 15–30 minutes in a decanter can help reveal its aromatic depth; older bottles benefit from gentle aeration before serving.
Producer
Domaine Vincent Pinard is a highly regarded family domaine in Bué, one of Sancerre’s key villages. The Pinard family has cultivated vines in the region for generations, and the domaine is known for expressing individual vineyard sites through precise, terroir-driven wines. Under the guidance of Clément and Florent Pinard, the estate has earned a strong reputation among Burgundy and Loire enthusiasts for its ambitious, age-worthy Sancerres.
