San Polo’s Brunello di Montalcino Podernovi is a refined, organic expression of Sangiovese from one of Tuscany’s most celebrated appellations. Produced by San Polo Azienda Agricola, part of the Allegrini family portfolio, it combines traditional craftsmanship with a precise, elegant style that reflects the enduring prestige of Brunello di Montalcino.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a moderately deep ruby-red colour with delicate garnet reflections, hinting at both youth and complexity. The nose opens with floral notes of violet, alpine violet and jasmine, followed by fresh red fruit and a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, this Brunello is balanced and structured, with vibrant acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. It finishes with impressive persistence and has the depth to reward further cellaring over the coming years.

Production
The Podernovi vineyard benefits from the distinctive terroir of Montalcino, where altitude, warm Tuscan days and cooling nights help Sangiovese develop aromatic finesse and natural freshness. The grapes are harvested by hand in small 17 kg crates during the first ten days of October, then carefully selected before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place in 25 hl Slavonian oak vats, followed by 30 months of ageing in 40 hl lightly toasted Slavonian oak casks and at least six months of bottle maturation before release.

Food & Serving
This Brunello pairs beautifully with rich Tuscan dishes, roasted game, braised meats, mushroom risotto and mature cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1 hour to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
