San Polo Brunello di Montalcino is an organic expression of one of Tuscany’s most celebrated reds, crafted from Sangiovese and shaped by the elegance and structure that have made Brunello a benchmark for Italian wine. Produced by San Polo Azienda Agricola, part of the Allegrini family’s portfolio, it reflects both modern precision and the timeless character of Montalcino.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red color with garnet highlights, clear and brilliant. The nose is layered and inviting, opening with violets and small red fruits, then evolving into notes of undergrowth, aromatic wood, light vanilla, and a touch of jammy fruit, before finishing with subtle, persistent hints of coffee. On the palate, it is warm, dense, and full-bodied, with well-defined tannins and a long, sustained finish. The wine has the concentration and balance to develop beautifully over time, with excellent aging potential for those who enjoy Brunello at its most expressive.

Production
This Brunello comes from the hills of Montalcino in Tuscany, where the terroir and climate provide ideal conditions for Sangiovese to ripen with depth and freshness. The grapes are hand-harvested in small 17 kg boxes at the end of September, then carefully selected and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in 500-litre tonneaux. The wine is then aged for 24 months in 500-litre French oak barrels, a mix of new and used wood with medium toast, before resting for at least six months in bottle prior to release.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for hearty Tuscan dishes, grilled or roasted red meats, game, braised beef, lamb, mushroom-based dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least an hour to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
