Tasting Notes
Deep, opaque ruby in the glass, the 2022 La Ricolma opens with a rich and expressive aromatic profile of dark berries, plum, lavender, dried herbs, chocolate, and moka. The nose is generous and exotic, yet never loses its sense of freshness or detail. On the palate, it is plush and concentrated, with ripe black fruit wrapped around a firm, vertical backbone that gives the wine real shape and drive. Hints of spice, cocoa, and savory herbs add complexity to the long finish. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should develop beautifully over the next decade or more.

Production
La Ricolma is sourced from San Giusto a Rentennano’s Tuscan vineyards, where the warm 2022 season led to an earlier harvest than usual, with Merlot picked on 22 and 26 September to preserve balance and freshness. The wine was aged in a combination of 500-liter and 225-liter oak barrels, helping shape its texture while retaining the purity and character of the fruit.

This Merlot pairs naturally with rich, savory dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, braised short ribs, wild mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the aromas and structure to fully open.
