Description

Saltaren Wines’ Labeja is a bright, characterful Rheingau Riesling from the well-regarded Mittelheimer St. Nikolaus vineyard. Its name, derived from the Spanish word for “bee,” reflects the biodiversity and lively vineyard environment associated with Alex Saltaren Castro’s wines.

Tasting Notes
Pale and clear in appearance, it opens with expressive herbal aromas alongside delicate hints of yellow stone fruit. A note of lemon zest comes through more distinctly on the palate, where fresh, precise acidity gives the wine an energetic, focused finish. Production
The Riesling comes from Mittelheimer St. Nikolaus, near the Rhine, where vines grow on loess and calcareous loess-clay soils. Some grapes were destemmed before pressing. The wine was matured partly in stainless steel and partly in 220-litre vessels, spending around a year on its lees. Harvesting details are not provided.
