Description
Ruggeri Prosecco Argeo Brut Magnum brings the festive charm of top-quality Prosecco to a generous large-format bottle, perfect for sharing on special occasions. Crafted from Glera grapes grown in the hills of Veneto, this sparkling wine balances freshness, fruit, and finesse with effortless ease. In the Argeo cuvée, Ruggeri showcases its signature style: crisp, elegant bubbles and a clean, modern expression of classic Italian Prosecco.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Ruggeri Prosecco Argeo Brut shows a pale straw-yellow color with fine, persistent bubbles and a delicate mousse. The nose is vibrant and inviting, with aromas of green apple, pear, white peach, and citrus zest, lifted by hints of acacia blossom and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, it is dry, lively, and refreshingly crisp, with juicy orchard fruit flavors framed by bright acidity and a gentle, creamy texture from the refined perlage. Notes of lemon, lime, and a touch of almond linger on the clean, mouthwatering finish. This non-vintage Brut is made to be enjoyed young for maximum freshness and aromatic intensity, though it will hold well for a couple of years after release.
Production
The Glera grapes for Ruggeri Prosecco Argeo Brut are sourced from selected vineyards in the Veneto region, where hillside sites enjoy a mild climate, good diurnal temperature swings, and well-drained, predominantly marl and limestone soils—ideal conditions for preserving aromatics and acidity. Grapes are typically hand- or carefully machine-harvested to ensure gentle handling and brought quickly to the cellar to protect their delicate aromas. After soft pressing and cool temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to preserve freshness, the wine undergoes its secondary fermentation in pressurized tanks (Charmat/Martinotti method), which enhances the purity of fruit and creates the fine, persistent bubbles. The wine is bottled under pressure as Brut, with a low dosage to emphasize its dry, crisp style.
Food & Serving
Ruggeri Prosecco Argeo Brut Magnum is a versatile partner at the table, ideal as an aperitif and excellent with light, Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Pair it with fresh seafood (shrimp, oysters, lightly fried calamari), sushi, crudo, or classic Italian antipasti such as prosciutto, salumi, mild cheeses, and marinated vegetables. It also works beautifully alongside simple pasta with seafood, risotto with spring vegetables, or light poultry dishes. Serve well-chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F). In a magnum format, a brief 5–10 minutes in the glass is enough for it to open up—decanting is not necessary, but pouring into proper sparkling wine flutes or tulip glasses will show it at its best.
Producer
Founded in 1950 in Valdobbiadene, Ruggeri is one of the benchmark producers of quality Prosecco, with deep roots in the historic heart of the appellation. Over the decades, the winery has built close relationships with local growers and has been instrumental in elevating the reputation of Prosecco from a simple everyday sparkler to a world-recognized fine wine. Ruggeri is particularly known for its work in the hills of Valdobbiadene and nearby villages, where the best Glera grapes are grown on steep, labor-intensive slopes. The estate has garnered numerous accolades from international critics and guides for its consistently high standards, refined style, and its role in promoting the identity and quality of Prosecco from Veneto.
