Rombauer Merlot 2019 is a richly textured Napa Valley red that delivers the plush, generous style the house is known for. Built on a Merlot-dominant blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, it combines ripeness, depth, and polished oak influence in a classic California expression.

Tasting Notes
Deep, vibrant color in the glass, this Merlot opens with layered aromas of ripe black plum, black tea, mint, fresh-baked pie crust, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated yet notably supple, with flavors of black cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, vanilla, and a gentle thread of spice. The wine’s balance of richness and freshness gives it immediate appeal, while its structure and oak integration suggest it will continue to evolve nicely over the next several years.

Production
Sourced from some of Napa Valley’s top vineyard sites, the wine reflects the region’s warm California climate and the depth of fruit it can produce. Winemaker Richie Allen crafted the blend from 84% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot, then aged it for 15 months in French oak barrels, including 40% new oak, to build complexity, texture, and a polished finish.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, mushroom risotto, or dishes with rich tomato-based sauces. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if you want to let the aromas and texture fully open.
