Why shop with us?
Riecine’s Chianti Classico is a pure expression of Sangiovese from Gaiole in Chianti, combining the character of its high-altitude vineyards with a fresh, elegant style. Made by a historic estate whose roots reach back to 1112, it reflects the region’s enduring winemaking traditions.
Tasting Notes
Bright, clear ruby in colour, the wine opens with violet and rose, followed by small red fruits, blood orange and fresh hints of eucalyptus and mint. The palate is elegant and medium-bodied, with lively acidity, supple, well-integrated tannins and a dry, harmonious finish with a delicate touch of spice.
Its freshness and structure make it enjoyable in its youth, while the balance of acidity and tannin should allow it to develop gracefully over the next few years.
Production
The vineyards sit at 450–500 metres above sea level in Gaiole in Chianti, where calcareous and clay soils contribute to the wine’s freshness and structure. Grapes are hand-harvested and selected twice before gentle crushing and spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in unlined concrete tanks. Around ten days of maceration includes manual punch-downs and pump-overs, followed by 14 months of ageing in tonneaux and large oak casks. Riecine farms according to organic and biodynamic principles, with vineyard work carried out by hand.
Food & Serving
A natural match for Tuscan cooking, this Chianti Classico pairs well with pici pasta with ragù, grilled or roasted red meat, game and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. A brief decant can help open its floral and herbal aromas, particularly when the wine is young.
Producer
Riecine is based in Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Although the estate’s history dates to 1112, its modern revival began in 1971; today, its 35 hectares include vineyards, olive groves and woodland. The estate focuses on Sangiovese and combines traditional winemaking with strict organic practices.
