Ridge Vineyards Three Valleys 2023

Ridge Vineyards’ Three Valleys is a classic Sonoma County blend that showcases the bright, fruit-driven side of Zinfandel with the added depth and spice of Petite Sirah and other supporting varieties. First introduced to Ridge’s lineup in 2001, it has become a reliable example of the estate’s signature balance between generosity, structure, and purity of fruit.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, inviting color and immediately hints at its rich, layered style. The nose opens with strawberry jam, blackberry tart, black tea, light chocolate, white pepper, and a gentle touch of vanilla from the oak. The palate is broad and plush, with flavors of blackberry, blueberry, dark cherry, light chocolate, and herbs unfolding over a balanced, energetic frame. Despite its intensity and ripe fruit character, the wine stays remarkably poised, with enough freshness and structure to drink beautifully now and improve over the next few years.

Production
Three Valleys is sourced from fruit across ten different vineyards in sun-drenched Sonoma County, giving the wine both breadth and complexity. The grapes are hand-harvested, gently de-stemmed before pressing, and then aged for 12 months in American oak, including 10% new barrels, to add subtle spice and texture without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile red for hearty, flavor-forward dishes such as grilled steak, BBQ ribs, roast lamb, sausage-based pasta, or mushroom dishes with a little richness. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes will help open up the wine’s aromatic detail and soften its tannins.
